SNAPCHAT

Snapchat has introduced Snap Kit, a platform for developers that helps build products that integrate within Snapchat features. This new platform for developers puts the privacy and security of Snapchat users first. Snap Kit will help Snapchat users to tap into the best parts of other apps they love and help those apps integrate some of Snapchat’s experiences into their products while ensuring users’ account information is kept safe, secure, and private.

Snap Kit will offer these four integration options:

  • Creative Kit

It will enhance users’ experiences within Snapchat by allowing apps to integrate their own stickers, Filters, links and more right into our camera. Creative Kit lets Snapchatters bring highlights from other apps like high scores, workout stats right into the camera screen, so they can add their own touch and share it with friends.

  • Login Kit

It will make it easier for Snapchatters to unlock features and log in faster to other apps, and bring their Bitmoji avatar with them!

  • Bitmoji Kit

Bitmoji Kit lets Snapchatters express themselves with Bitmoji stickers across other apps, Snapchat has already integrated the Bitmoji app.

  • Story Kit

This will enable participating apps to embed publicly shared Snapchat Stories on their own websites to showcase to their communities. Apps will also be able to search publicly shared Stories based on location, time, captions, and more — so they can see what their fanbase is up to.

Snapchat said that privacy is their first priority- We think about privacy on the front end of creating any new product, platform or feature, and have a thorough privacy review process to ensure each of these upholds our commitment to treating our users’ data with care, said the company.

Snapchatters are only asked for their Display Names and Bitmoji avatars (which are optional) when they log in to other apps not any other personally identifiable information. Snap Kit only allows Snapchatters to share their own Snapchat display name and Bitmoji to log in to other apps, not their friends. Further, If a Snapchat user hasn’t used an app that they signed into with Snapchat in over 90 days, Snap Kit will automatically disconnect that app.
