Google Hub

At the #madebygoogle event in New York, today Google announced a new Smart display device called the Google Hub. The Google Hub is a tablet attached with a fabric speaker base which can’t be removed and the Hub can’t be used as a standalone tablet. Lenovo has already announced a similar device with Google Assistant built-in.

The Google Hub comes with a 7-inch LCD display with touch support. It comes with Bluetooth and WiFi support as we have seen on the Google Home. The tablet sports two far-field microphones either side and  at the front, it houses ambient light sensor and a color sensor. It also comes with an Ambient EQ setting and color of the display throughout the day. At the rear of the screen there is a volume button and switch to mute the mics and the port for the 15W power adapter. Google HubThe Google Assistant can help you kickstart your morning and get the latest weather, traffic and meeting schedules or you can relax in the evening by video calling friends with Google Duo, watching YouTube videos, enjoying your favorite tunes or managing your connected devices – all with just your voice and a quick glance at the display. When not in use, the display doubles as a digital picture frame showcasing an ambient screen of beautiful pictures from a personally selected album in Google Photos, or another background image of your choosing. The Hub can also control devices like smart lights, thermostats, and devices supporting Google Home.

Pricing and Availability

On the pricing front, the Google Hub will be available for $149, which is $100 less than the 10-inch Lenovo Smart Display. GoogleHub will come with six months of YouTube Premium for free with each purchase (until December). It will be available in Chalk, Charcoal, Pink and Aqua options too. Google Home Hub is available to now, and it will be in stores from October 22nd in the US, UK, and Australia.
