OYO Rooms – The Unbiased Review

Hi folks! As most of you know that it was my brother’s wedding month. I was so busy with the planning, shopping, functions, dancing and all the fun and tiredness that followed. As luck would have it, I was invited for an opportunity to review OYO Rooms, located all over India but as I was already so exhausted, I decided to travel to one of their Delhi Premium Property located at 33, Siri Fort Road.

The reason why I chose this property was because of its location. Located in the heart of the city, in one of the posh areas of South Delhi, next to my favourite shopping centres like GK, Select Citywalk etc. Another reason was the fact that Siri Fort Road is very accessible from both Lajpat Nagar (BRT) side and Anand Lok side.

The best part about OYO Rooms is that it doesn’t hurt your pocket at all! For tourist travelling to India or travelling within India for budget trips or on business trips and do not want to spend a fortune while travelling, you just need to book yourself an OYO Room! They offer so much for so less. Personally, I was surprised to experience their services. Spending money on hotels while travelling is always a concern but with OYO Rooms you don’t have to worry any more 🙂

Rooms:

What surprised me the most was the fact that my room was exactly the way it looked on the OYO Room’s website. Not even an inch of difference, have a look at the pictures below:

OYO Rooms

The spotless linen and the cleanliness of the room was what caught our attention. It goes without saying that all the rooms have ACs and a TV in it with a queen size comfortable bed. All rooms have private bathrooms with showers.

Breakfast:

OYO Rooms also have an elaborate spread of English and Indian breakfast, inclusive in the room charges.

Facilities:

All OYO rooms have a standard set of facilities which include:  Provision of A/C in all rooms, availability of common rooms, a doctor on call, hospital is located nearby, the room is located in the heart of the city, maximum of 2 extra beds available per room, laundry and free WiFi.

The Wi-Fi speed was pleasantly surprising and augmented our experience at OYO. The staff was also very polite, helpful and cooperative. I called the staff quiet a few times for water, cold drinks and ice cream at night and each and every time they came with a smile. Though I wished they had chilled Pepsi and more choices in ice cream flavours.

We were also given a Toiletries kit at the time of check-in which contained soap, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste and other products to address all our basic requirements.

One more important facility, that I think is a basic necessity nowadays is the ability to work seamlessly on the move. And that too was taken care by the OYO rooms smartphone app. By using the smartphone app, I was not only able book my preferred OYO room in less than 30 seconds flat, but order room service directly from the app. Now isn’t that cherry on the cake 😉

Rates:

OYO certainly offers rooms at prices that no other player in the budget segment offers today. They offer rooms ranging from INR 999 – INR 3000.

So far the journey of OYO Rooms has been fantastic just like my stay. Here are few stats to show you how they are doing:

But as nothing is perfect, here are some tips/points we would want OYO Rooms to work upon:

  • The tips that come at the bottom of the page for each city. The list of top 3 places to eat and shop is static and should be dynamic according to area of city you are staying in

If you too have stayed at any of the OYO Rooms property then share your review/feedback in the comments section below.

    • Thanks for sharing your feedback, Francisco. We can understand that the experience for OYO room has deterred over time. We did this review in 2015 when the venture wasn’t that old. We have heard a lot of negative user reviews from customers in the past few years. If possible for you then please share your experience with us in a gist and we can add it as an update to this review.

  1. My experience with oyo is pathetic. I had booked room in Gangtok for my honeymoon. At the time of check-in the hotel staff denied my booking and the reason given was that they had no more tie up with Oyo because of peak season. I contacted Oyo team, they were unable to resolve the issue and assured me to provide some other arrangements. As May is the peak season they arranged a room for 1 day only, which was pathetic and the rate was the same as what I was paying for my premium room, and told me that they will make next arrangements in some other hotel. I was not not contacted the next day and I had to make the arrangements by my own, for which I had payed the current high charges.

I was hoping from one hotel to other for 4 days and my complete honeymoon was screwed by Oyo.
