On the onset of World Photography Day, Asus launches a new camera centric smartphone in India, the Zenfone Zoom S. The device comes with a dual 12MP camera setup with 2.3X optical zoom and 12X (Digital + Optical) zoom. It is priced at INR 26,999 and is exclusively available on Flipkart in Navy Black & Glacier Silver colour options.

The Zenfone Zoom S comes with 5.5-inch Full HD AMOLED display protected with Gorilla Glass 5. It is powered by Snapdragon 625 processor and is coupled with Adreno 506 GPU. The device comes with a 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage. It is packed with a massive 5000mAh battery that also supports fast charging and reverse charging. It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, and is upgradable to Android Nougat.  

The USP of the smartphone is its camera at the rear which is a 12MP SuperPixel camera, 25mm, f/1.7 aperture, 6p lens, 81.8-degree field of view, 1/2.55” type sensor size, 1.4um pixel size Sony IMX362 sensor, OIS, 4K UHD video recording with EIS, RAW shooting (only when updated to Nougat) and the secondary 12MP sensor comes with 2.3x optical zoom, f/2.6 aperture, 1/3.42” type sensor size along with dual tone LED flash. Other features of the camera are:

  • Four-axis Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and three-axis Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) to counter hand movements from blurring photos or making videos appear shaky
  • RGB Color-correction sensor that automatically adjusts the colours in a photo to look natural and accurate
  • 48MP Super Resolution mode that combines four native 12MP photos to create a single large image with exceptional 4X clarity, greater detail, and less noise
  • 19 different unique and versatile modes that optimize the camera to shoot scenes or add special effects to photos

Further, the device features a 5-Magnet speaker that is boosted by an NXP SmartAMP to give you clear, crisp and full sound even at loud volume levels. For headphone audio, the ZenFone Zoom S is HiRes certified and it can playback lossless audio formats with ease at 192kHz/24-bit, the device also features DTS Headphone:X, which recreates your content in a virtual 7.1ch Surround Sound effect over headphones. Other features of the device include Bluetooth 4.2, Rear fingerprint sensor, VoLTE, GPS. The device is thick at 7.99mm and weighs 170 grams.
