Jio Phone 2 with 2.4-inch QVGA display, QWERTY keyboard to go on sale from August 16

Reliance had announced the successor to the Jio Phone, the Jio Phone 2 at the annual AGM back in July. The Jio 2 comes with a QWERTY keyboard and also supports apps like Google Maps, Facebook, and YouTube. Also, one of the major apps support the Jio Phone 2 will be getting is the availability of the Whatsapp, which can be downloaded via the app store.

Today, the company has announced that the new Jio Phone 2 will go on sale on August 16th at 12PM on Jio.com and it will be a flash sale. The Jio Phone 2 will be available for INR 2,999. Previously, the company had also announced the Jio Monsoon Hunga offer, which allows feature phone users to exchange their phone for a new JioPhone for an effective price of INR 501(INR 1,000 off).

Jio Phone 2The new Jio Phone 2 will come with a QWERTY keyboard, a 2.4-inch QVGA display, and Dual SIM support. It comes with cat.4 LTE support with download speeds of up to 150Mbps with support both LTE (Band 3,5,40) and 2G (900/1800). As seen on the first gen, it runs on KaiOS with 512 MB RAM, 4GB internal storage with a microSD slot. It sports a 2MP rear camera, VGA front camera, and a 2000mAh battery. Other features include 3.5mm audio jack, FM Radio, 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1 LE, NFC, USB 2.0.
