galaxy-fold-India launch

Samsung had announced the Samsung Galaxy Fold device back in February along with the announcement of the Galaxy Trio smartphones- S10, S10+, and S10e. And, later in the month of May, it went on the reservation in the US  for $1,980 (INR 1,40,708). Just after the reservation started, many reviewers started reporting issues with the display and the body of the Galaxy Fold. Since then the company halted the reservation and has been working on the issues and now they have come up with an improvised version of the Galaxy Fold and it will be available from September in select markets.

Here are the design and construction improvements that Samsung has made in the past few months:

  • The top protective layer of the Infinity Flex Display has been extended beyond the bezel, making it apparent that it is an integral part of the display structure and not meant to be removed.
  • Galaxy Fold features additional reinforcements to better protect the device from external particles while maintaining its signature foldable experience:
    • The top and bottom of the hinge area have been strengthened with newly added protection caps.
    • Additional metal layers underneath the Infinity Flex Display have been included to reinforce the protection of the display.
    • The space between the hinge and body of Galaxy Fold has been reduced.

Further, Samsung has also working to improve the overall Galaxy Fold user experience, including optimizing more apps and services for its unique foldable UX.
