WhatsApp, owned by Facebook and one of the biggest social media messaging platforms has now introduced a new feature that was requested by users for ages. The new addition includes the Mute Forever option allowing users to mute a chat forever with the new ‘Always’ option in chat settings. Previously, WhatsApp was spotted testing this new feature in the beta version and now finally it has made it to the stable version. Here’s everything related to Whatsapp and the Mute Forever option.

The announcement comes out on October 23, 2020, where the developers took it to Twitter and shared the development with an image of an iPhone with this feature sitting alongside the previous options including 8 hours and 1-week options. This will allow users to mute individual chats or group chats forever.

The option is now available with the latest update, and hence if you would like to try out the new feature make sure that you’re running the latest version of Whatsapp Messenger. The mute chat settings now shows ‘8 hours’, ‘1 week’, and ‘Always’ options. The ‘Always’ option replaces the ‘1-year’ option which was originally part of the settings. Yes, one can still choose whether to show notifications for that chat or not. As checked, this new feature is now present on both iOS and Android devices, as well as on WhatsApp web.
