Sony Alpha 7C

Sony has announced the ultra-compact Sony Alpha 7C full-frame mirrorless camera in India which was previously announced in North America about two months back. The Alpha 7C has been specifically made for bloggers, where the C stands for “Compact”. The Alpha 7C camera shares quite a few characteristics with the Sony a7III. The A7C sports a 24.2-megapixel Exmor R BSI CMOS sensor, BIONZ X image processor, 5-axis in-body image stabilization, 4K video recording, 10fps continuous shooting speed, and more.

It is certainly bundled up features such as 15-stop dynamic range, standard ISO up to 51,200, real-time tracking AF with 693-point focal-plane phase-detection. Being a compact camera, the 7C weighs just about 509 grams; “The Alpha 7C is similar in size and weight to an APS-C camera, with only 1 percent more weight than the Alpha 6600” – claims the brand.

The company has also incorporated a 2.35 million dot 0.39-inch viewfinder with a magnification of 0.59x. Additionally, there’s a touch-screen LCD display with about 921 thousand dots for better visibility in bright outdoor conditions.

As for the battery, the Sony a7C battery provides “enough power for long shooting durations and to capture up to an industry-leading 740 images when using the LCD monitor, or 680 images when using the viewfinder.” Some other features include a single SD UHS-II memory card slot which could be easily accessed from the side of the camera.

Alongside the camera, the company has also announced a new FE 28-60mm F4-5.6 standard zoom lens. This new lens weighs around 167 grams, comes with three aspherical lens elements to suppress aberrations in the optical system.
