SSD EVO 870

Samsung has announced the arrival of 870 EVO SSD in India, the company’s latest SATA solution in its SSD series. The 870 Evo will be replacing the 860 EVO SSDs launched by the company two years ago.

The newly arrived Samsung 870 Evo makes use of the SATA 6Gbps interface and comes in a 2.5-inch form factor. It has a Samsung controller, the company’s latest V-NAND 3-bit MLC (TLC) memory. As for the DRAM, the 250GB and 500GB models come with 512MB LPDDR4 DRAM, while the 1TB variant comes with 1GB DRAM, the 2TB variant comes with 2GB DRAM, and finally the 4TB variant omes with 4GB LPDDR4 DRAM. The key highlight of these new 870 Evo SSDs is the sequential read and write speeds which the company claims to be Up to 560MBps and up to 530MBps, respectively.

Moreover, the new SSD uses Samsung Magician as its management software and has 98K Input/Output Operations Per Second (IOPS) random read speed and 88K IOPS random write speed. As for the terabytes written (TBW) rating, the company says the 4TB model is rated 2,400TBW, the 2TB model is rated 1,200TBW, 1TB model is rated 600TBW, while the 500GB model is rated 300TBW, and finally, the 250GB model is rated 150TBW.

Samsung 870 EVO will be offered in 250GB, 500GB, 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB sizes, making it suitable for a wide range of uses. The Samsung 870 EVO will be available across retail channels, online and offline, from January 20, 2021, in India. The Samsung 870 EVO will be priced at INR 3,599 for 250 GB, INR 5999 for 500GB, INR 10999 for the 1TB, INR 21999 for 2TB, and INR 43999 for 4TB model.
