Tidal App with improvements for Android has started rolling out

Tidal App with improvements for Android has started rolling out. Tidal has been one of the apps that competes with Apple Music for high quality music listening. But nor Apple Music and Tidal were able to do it for the Android platform as there were a lot of limitations with their mobile apps. Now that Apple Music will soon bring much higher quality playback for songs in the Apple Music apps, Tidal has rolled out a new update for Android devices too.

Previously, what happened was Android would resample the digital audio which was clearing out of the USB port to 48kHz. This meant, even a 192kHz stream was getting down sampled to 48kHz and users weren’t able to get the real quality payback. So, this meant, that lot of audiophiles, using Android were not able to listen to them in perfect quality with USB DACs. There has only been one fix for this which is what Tidal has used to provide the perfect quality playback even on Android devices.

With the new update of Tidal on Android, it now uses UAPP that loads a specific USB driver to connect properly to the USB DAC. With the updated app, now if users are connecting there DACs to their mobile devices, a Pop-Up comes to allow and after that user are easily able to listen to songs in perfect quality. With this update, we expect Apple Music for Android to roll out the new features soon enough as otherwise, instead of Apple Music many people may switch to Tidal. Although it would be interesting to see how Tidal holds up when support for Lossless and Dolby Atmos comes to Android later.
