OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G Pros and Cons Explained

PROS:

Good Display – The new OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G features a 6.43-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 90 Hz refresh rate. This AMOLED display offers great punchy colours and looks good even from different viewing angles. It is also HDR10+ certified.

Decent Cameras – OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G gets a 64 MP primary rear camera along with an 8 MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 2 MP macro camera. At the front, it gets a 16 MP selfie shooter. While the cameras aren’t the best in the segment, they are decent and capture good images.

Clean User Interface – While the OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G features OnePlus’ Oxygen OS 11, which is based on Android 11, and the interface is pretty similar to Oppo’s Color OS devices. What’s commendable here is that the smartphone offers a clean UI with almost no bloatware.

Great Battery Life – The OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G sports a 4500 mAh battery, which might not seem great on paper, but in reality it offers a good battery life. Moreover, it comes with 65W fast charging.

3.5mm Audio Jack – The OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G is one of those very few new-age OnePlus smartphones that come with a 3.5mm audio jack, and so it is something worth mentioning.

CONS:

Rebranded Oppo Reno 7 – The OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G is essentially a rebranded Oppo Reno 7. It might be cost-effective for the company, but as a consumer, we believe the company should have added differentiating factors.

Runs on Android 11 – While new smartphones are now rolled out with Android 12, the OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G is still offered with Android 11 out of the box.

No Stereo Speakers – Most smartphones in this price range now offer stereo speakers, but the OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G misses out on it.

Decent Performance – The OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 900 processor, which performs well. But, in the same price range, we do get MediaTek Dimensity 920 SoC smartphones, which is even better.

Rivals Offer Better Value – The price of the OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G starts at Rs 23,999, and it’s the most affordable OnePlus smartphone in India. However, rivals like the Realme 9 Pro+ 5G offer better value.

  1. I think it is a great device, and going to offer great performance as this has a Mediatek chipset.

  2. There’s no doubt that phones equipped with strong Mediatek chipsets are going to perform well.
