Apple just announced that its 31st annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) will take place in June in a new online format. This is being done to limit the exposure of the CoronaVirus among the attendees.

Apple’s senior vice president of Software Engineering, Craig Federighi said that the company has created a new format that delivers a full program with an online keynote and sessions. Apple also announced that it will commit $1 million to local San Jose organizations to offset associated revenue loss as a result of WWDC 2020’s new online format.

Apple is not the only doing this, earlier on Google canceled its annual developer conference Google I/O while Facebook did the same with their F8 conference. The WWDC 2020 program will provide Apple’s entire global developer community — which now includes more than 23 million registered developers in more than 155 countries and regions — and the next generation of app developers.

The company is likely to reveal the future of iOS and OS X at the event, including iOS 14, macOS 10.16, watchOS 7, and tvOS 14 updates. Also on the cards are the new iPads and watchOS updates.
