Google Pixel 3 and 3XL

Google today unveiled their two new flagship device- the Pixel 3 and the Pixel 3 XL at an event in New York. As seen by the heap of leaks all over the internet from last few weeks the phones really look same and there is no change from the leaks. Moving on from the leaks, as seen by the previous gen Pixel smartphones the Pixel 3 is mainly focused on the camera and software part.

The Pixel 3 and 3 XL only differs in the screen size and battery, except that everything is similar on these devices. The Google Pixel 3 comes with a 5.5-inch Full-HD+ AMOLED 18:9 display with support for HDR and the Pixel 3 XL comes with 6.3-inch (2880 x 1440 pixels) Quad HD+ AMOLED display with a notch. Both the phones are protected up front with Corning Gorilla Glass 5. They are powered by an Octa-core Snapdragon 845 Processor, Adreno 630GPU, 4GB RAM and they come in two storage options – 64GB and 128 GB with no support to sd card. As expected they run on the latest Android 9.0 Pie and comes with 2915mAh and 3430mAh battery with fast charging which can give you seven hours of use in 15 minutes of charge via USB Type-C and they also support wireless charging. Google Pixel 3 and 3XL

The Pixel 3 camera

Coming to the camera department, the devices pack in a 12.2MP rear camera with f/1.8 aperture, OIS, EIS, 1.4μm sensor, support for 4k recording, Portrait mode, FOV, Dual PD autofocus. Also, the camera now comes with more AI feature like Top Shot which captures multiple photos and will pick out the best photo, Night Sight which lets you take bright, detailed, colorful shots even in low light, Super Res Zoom that produces sharp details when you zoom in,  and Photobooth mode that recognizes your smile or making any funny expression, it will automatically click a photo for you. At the front, the smartphones come with two 8MP cameras( f/1.8 aperture+ f/2.2 aperture), secondary 8MP fixed focus with 97° wide angle, Full HD video recording up to 30 fps, Portrait mode. The camera also comes with a feature called Playground where you can make photos, selfies, and videos come to life by adding your favorite superheroes, animated stickers, and fun captions. In celebration of Marvel Studios’ 10 Year Anniversary, you’ll enjoy seeing the characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (exclusively on Pixel) react to each other and to you. When you point your camera at the information you want to remember or don’t feel like typing in—like a URL or QR code on a flyer or an email on a business card—Google Lens suggests what to do next, like calling a number, going to the website, or creating a new contact.Google Pixel 3 and 3XLFurther, these Pixels come with Titan Security that protects most sensitive data by securing the lock screen and also it strengths disk encryption. The front firing speakers on Pixel 3/3 XL are 40% louder dual compared to the predecessor.  The fingerprint scanner is placed at the rear of the devices and the device is IP68 water and dust resistant. Alongside Pixel 3 Google also introduced Pixel Stand, a Qi-compliant wireless charger. While charging in the Pixel Stand, your phone turns into a smart speaker and smart display powered by the Google Assistant, a photo frame, a control panel for your smart home, and much more. The stand is priced at INR 6,990.

Pricing and Availability

Google Pixel 3 will be available in the US starting at $799(INR 59,185) for 64GB and $899(INR 66,593) for the 128GB variants respectively. The Google Pixel 3 XL starts at $899(INR 66,593) for 64GB and $999(INR 74,000) for the 128GB variant respectively. In India, the Pixel 3 will be available for INR 71,000(64GB) and INR 80,000(128GB). The Pixel 3 XL will be available for INR 83,000(64GB) and INR 92,000(128GB). The Pre-orders start from Thursday, 11th October 2018 on Flipkart, Airtel’s online store, and at offline partners including Reliance Digital, Croma and other leading stores across India.
