UberEATS India launch

World’s leading taxi aggregator, Uber has sent us an invite for a launch event on 2nd May in Mumbai. Looking at the invite, we can confirm that it’s for their food delivery service UberEATS. Earlier this year, Uber had shared its plan to foray in the food delivery service in India.

UberEATS India

Unlike UberMoto or UberCash, India is not one of the first countries to get UberEATS as a service. The UberEats service was first launched in Los Angeles back in 2014. At present, it is available in almost 60 cities across the world.

This comes after the recent launch of Google’s Areo, a restaurant food delivery service that launched in India earlier this month. While Google’s Areo is limited to a few cities in India. UberEats will compete with the likes of Zomato, Foodpanda, and Swiggy in India due to its vast service network.

More Uber services available worldwide – Countries to visit and Uber services to try

Whilst, I write this post, I can say that Uber has done its homework well and has been working hard on the UberEATS service. To begin with, Uber is taking user suggestions of their favourite food places in their city on this Google Doc. You too can click on this link and vote for your fav joints.

Like everywhere else in the world, UberEATS will be a standalone app in the Android Play Store and Apple App Store. Though, in the backend, it will be the same Uber drivers fulfilling the food delivery orders for you. This will also increase the revenues for these drivers as now they will have an option to deliver the food other than their usual rides.

If by any chance you are a restaurant owner or know someone who owns a restaurant then, UberEATS is also inviting restaurants to become partners via this page. To build its ecosystem, Uber is also letting delivery companies connect with them via this page.

Do let us know about your favourite food delivery service in the comments section or tweet to us @theunbiasedblog.
