Air India on Wednesday unveiled its first flagship Maharaja Lounge at Terminal 3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport, marking a key milestone in the airline’s ongoing transformation and push to elevate premium travel experiences.
Spread across 16,000 square feet, the lounge is located at the international pier of Terminal 3 and can accommodate around 300 guests. It features a large Business Class section along with a more exclusive First Class area.

The Maharaja Lounge sets a new benchmark for premium ground services with distinct zones, including a Crystal Bar, a nostalgic Aviator’s Bar, and a quieter Globetrotter’s Study, catering to passengers looking for relaxation, work, or social interaction before departure.

Designed in line with Air India’s refreshed branding, the lounge blends heritage-inspired elements with modern luxury. The project has been conceptualised by global design studio Hirsch Bedner Associates, with interiors featuring refined furnishings, ambient lighting, and curated art pieces that reflect India’s cultural heritage.
Air India said the lounge will be progressively opened to passengers travelling in Business and First Class, Gold and Platinum Maharaja Club members, and eligible Star Alliance members starting February 16, 2026.

Focus on Elevated Dining and Experiences
The Maharaja Lounge offers an expansive dining programme with Indian and international cuisine, including live cooking stations. A standout feature is the Beverage on Wheels service, inspired by traditional gueridon service, allowing passengers to enjoy personalised cocktail service at their seats.

Cocktails have been curated by a specialist mixologist, with each drink drawing inspiration from Indian culture, ingredients, or Air India’s legacy. The airline has also introduced a dedicated Tea Programme, offering freshly brewed teas served from a tea trolley along with Indian snacks and savouries.

As part of the experience, guests can also pick up Maharaja-themed postcards, designed as keepsakes from the lounge.
Part of Air India’s Broader Transformation
Commenting on the launch, Campbell Wilson, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Air India, said the Maharaja Lounge at Delhi airport is a significant step in building the new Air India experience.
He said the lounge is a tangible representation of the airline’s transformation journey and added that Air India plans to invest in building more such premium lounges across airports in India and overseas as it looks to redefine luxury and comfort for its passengers.
The Delhi Maharaja Lounge is the first in a series of modern lounges that Air India plans to roll out globally as it strengthens its full-service offering and premium positioning.
