Google has officially launched its cloud-based gaming platform, Stadia. The platform was initially announced earlier this year at the Game Developers Conference. Stadia is a video game platform that delivers instant access to games on any type of screen—whether it’s a TV, laptop, desktop, tablet or mobile phone. The goal is to make those games available in resolutions up to 4K and 60 frames per second with HDR and surround sound.

Google Stadia is currently not available in India. It is only available in the US, UK, Canada, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Belgium, Ireland, and the Netherlands. Gamers will have a total of 22 titles to choose from with more games coming by the end of the year.  In addition, users will be able to claim both Destiny 2: The Collection and Samurai Shodown as part of the November Stadia Pro subscription.

Stadia’s day one titles include:

  • Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
  • Attack on Titan: Final Battle 2
  • Destiny 2: The Collection
  • Farming Simulator 2019
  • Final Fantasy XV
  • Football Manager 2020
  • Grid 2019
  • Gylt
  • Just Dance 2020
  • Kine
  • Metro Exodus
  • Mortal Kombat 11
  • NBA 2K20
  • Rage 2
  • Rise of the Tomb Raider
  • Red Dead Redemption 2
  • Samurai Shodown
  • Shadow of the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition
  • Thumper
  • Tomb Raider:  Definitive Edition

Further, Google said that they will bring the highest-quality blockbuster video game experiences streamed to any screen type without expensive or physical game consoles or high-end PCs. With Stadia, games pass through technical testing and are available to play right away, with no download, no patch and no waiting. After purchasing a title, it shows up in Stadia library within a matter of seconds.

Over the next six weeks, Google expects that  Borderlands 3, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Breakpoint, Dragon Ball: Xenoverse 2 and Darksiders Genesis will be playable on Stadia. And in 2020, more games will come to Stadia, including Doom: Eternal, WatchDogs: Legion, Gods & Monsters and Cyberpunk 2077.

  • The Stadia base version will be free and offers up to Full-HD gaming @ 60fps + stereo sound
  • Stadia Pro will cost $9.99 and offers up to 4K gaming @ 60fps + 5.1 surround sound
  • Stadia Controller – $69
  • Stadia Premium Controller (with Chromecast Ultra)- $129

The Stadia controllers come with a Type-C port and use Bluetooth Low Energy 4.2. Other features include – Dual-band Wi-Fi, Google Assistant button, Capture button, and 3.5mm jack.
