How to Recognize Any Song on an iPhone Easily Without Third Party Applications

Apple has released a new software update for its iPhones which brings a new ability to them: the ability to recognize the song playing nearby without any hassle. This has been made possible by Shazam, one of the most popular music identification services back in time was acquired by Apple back in 2018 for an estimated $400 million. One doesn’t need to have the Shazam app installed for this to work. All one needs to do is add a button to the Control Center and when there’s a song playing nearby and you want to know who the artist is, just tap the button and you get the results.

Setup: Song Recognition on iPhones

  • This new feature is only available on iPhones with iOS 14.2 or later; To use it, First, make sure you’re running the latest software on your iPhone. To do that, go to Settings > General > Software update.
  • Once the update has been installed, Open the Settings application on your iPhone.
  • Tap Control Center.
  • Navigate down under “More” and click the green ‘+’ button next to Music Recognition.

With this, the music recognition toggle will be added to Control Center.

On an iPhone with Face ID turned on, just pull down the Control Center menu by swiping down and tapping the Music Recognition icon to turn the feature on. However, On iPhones with a home button, simply swipe up from the bottom of the screen to access this menu and find the icon.

One could use it whenever he hears a song, even if it’s while you’re listening to a playlist with headphones on, to see the song title and artist.
