Spotify can now be used within the Facebook App. Earlier this year, Spotify had also introduced a new mini player, which was a feature that allows listeners to enjoy audio from Spotify directly within Facebook, without switching between apps. This feature has now also been made available to users in India, giving them another platform to engage in, and share their favorite songs and podcast episodes on the social network Facebook.
Speaking about the integration with Facebook, Akshat Harbola, Head of Market Operations at Spotify India said, “Over the years, social media has undeniably emerged as the primary way we connect with each other, and it’s also where we discover pop culture and content. Spotify and Facebook’s new mini player experience is another way for us to provide a way for listeners to share their moods and moments during the day with their family and friends, and to sample what others are listening to.”
Spotify has confirmed, that it is available on both iOS and Android devices, as for the mini player itself, It enables users to listen to songs and episodes with full playback directly from Spotify inside the Facebook app. Free users too can enjoy the same great experience, with accompanying ads from Spotify.
To enable the Mini player, one would need to follow the steps mentioned below-
- Tap the “Play” button on the song you, your friend, family member, or favorite creator shared from Spotify to their Facebook News Feed.
- The first time you’re using the mini-player, you’ll see a consent dialogue open—click on “Connect” to continue.
- If you’re logged in to Spotify, the apps will automatically switch, and playback will start from within the Spotify app. (If you’re not logged in, you will be prompted to do so.)
- Spotify keeps playing even if you keep scrolling down your News Feed, but you’ll have control over playback options so you can pause or dismiss the mini player.
