At the annual AGM, Reliance Jio has announced JioGigaFiber which is their connected home solution which will offer an ultra-high speed fiber connection of up to 1Gbps with the GigaRouter. Jio will also offer Smart Home solutions that connect to smart home accessories such as smart plugs, smart speakers, and more. Jio is currently running beta trials for JioGigaFiber at many homes.
Starting from August 15th you can start registering interest for JioGigaFiber through both MyJio and Jio.com, and the company will prioritize JioGigaFiber rollout to those localities from where it received the highest number of registrations. The rollout will happen in 1,100 cities of India simultaneously. The GigaTV Set-top box was also introduced and can be used to watch Live TV using JioTV apps and can access apps like JioCinema, JioTV Video calling, video conferencing and more. It also comes with a Jio Remote with buttons like a normal one with a voice control key. Further, Jio will also introduce smart home doorbells, smoke sensor, water and gas leak sensor and more in the upcoming days. With the Jio Smart Home app one can control all the smart home IoT products such as lights, appliances, and sensors easily. Jio also said that the whole JioGigaFiber setup including fiber, GigaTV and Smart Home appliances in just 1 hour.

Under this offer, feature phone users can exchange their phone for a new JioPhone for an effective price of INR 501(INR 1,000 off). This offer will be available from July 21st. We should know more details about the offer soon. Also, the company announced that a new Facebook, YouTube, and WhatsApp apps will be coming to JioPhone from 15th August. These apps are specially built for the Jio’s KaiOS.
Finally, Jio also introduced a new feature phone, Jio Phone 2 which will go on sale this August 15th. The new Jio Phone 2 will come with a QWERTY keyboard, a 2.4-inch QVGA screen, and Dual SIM support. It comes with cat.4 LTE support with download speeds of up to 150Mbps with support both LTE (Band 3,5,40) and 2G (900/1800). As seen on the first gen, it runs on KaiOS with 512 MB RAM, 4GB internal storage with a microSD slot. It sports a 2MP rear camera, VGA front camera, and a 2000mAh battery. Other features include 3.5mm audio jack, FM Radio, 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1 LE, NFC, USB 2.0. The phone will be initially priced at INR 2,999.
