WhatsApp started allowing its users to post updates back in 2017 and since then the featured has been appreciated by many.  At the time of launch, WhatsApp allowed 90 seconds to three minutes of video and gave an option to trim the length of the video before sending it. This limit was further cut short to just 30 seconds.

Now with all the COVID-19 lockdown, and the impending pressure on the ISP and global network traffic, WhatsApp has cut short the status limit now to just 15 seconds. This move seems temporary and has started coming to effect right now. This comes after the news of Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Hotstar, Facebook and other video streaming services in India started downscaling their Video content and setting a limit on it.

This WhatsApp update is a server-side change which is already rolling out to stable users gradually, so beta users should also see the changes soon.
